How to Measure Width (Curtains)
How to Measure Width for Curtains
1. Measuring the Window:
Measure the width from outside the trim. Add extra room on each side for fabric stack (we recommend 6" per side, or 12" total). Add more if you want a full window view.
2. Measuring the Rod:
Measure the length of the installed curtain rod, excluding the finials.
Header Considerations:
- Casual headers: The fabric lies flat when fully extended. Choose curtains 2x to 2.5x the measured width for proper fullness.
- Pleated headers: Fabric fullness is pre-sewn, so select curtains based on the actual measured width.
Opening Considerations
- One-way open: Purchase the full measured width.
- Center open (pair of panels): Divide the width by 2 for each panel.
Example:
Window from Outside Trim | Extra Room on Each Side | Width to Purchase (Pleated Headers) | Width to Purchase (Casual Headers) |
