How to Measure Height (Curtains)
How to Measure Height for Curtains
1. Pleated Headers (Ripple Fold, Pinch Pleat, Parisian Pleat):
Measure from the underside of the rings or carriers to the floor.
2. Casual Headers (Grommet, Back Tab, Rod Pocket):
Measure from the top of the rod to the floor.
Pro Tip: Measure in multiple spots as floors can be uneven. Use the longest measurement for accuracy.
How High to Install the Rod:
- 2/3 Rule: Mount the rod 2/3 of the distance between the top of the window and the ceiling. Example: If there are 6 feet above the window, mount the rod 4 feet up.
- Maximum Height: Mount the rod as high as possible or to the ceiling for a dramatic, elongated look.
Curtain Drop Styles:
Drop Style | Description | Adjustment |
½" Above Floor | Curtains hang slightly above the floor for a neat, easy-to-clean finish. | We subtract ½". |
Kiss the Floor | Curtains lightly touch the floor for a tailored look. | No adjustment |
Puddle | Curtains "puddle" on the floor for a luxurious, romantic look. Ideal for formal spaces but requires more maintenance. |
We add 2". (Customizable to 4" or 6".)* |
